Economy forces Stony Plain to raise taxes
According to the Reporter, council members for the Town of Stony Plain have just approved a 3.5% property tax hike. However, it’s not as bad as it could be: the originally tabled hike was to be as high as 6.88%. To achieve a lower increase the town’s administration made some substantial cuts, including delaying the hiring of a new Deputy Fire Chief.
The City of Spruce Grove also just announced a tax hike of it’s own: 4.9%.
