Evening storm in Stony Plain

Yesterday, the local area saw a record high of 32.8 degrees.  Local residents huddled by air conditioners, hid in their basements and resisted the urge to use the oven in their effort to keep cool.  A normal high for this time of year is approximately 19 degrees, making yesterday almost 14 degrees warmer than average.

In the evening, around 7pm, storms swirled around Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and the Parkland County region.  Dark clouds and lightning were reported, with smatterings of intense rain.

Today we return to more seasonable temperatures.  Environment Canada is calling for a cloudy day, with a high of 18, and a chance of showers.
