The Stony Plain Reporter just broke a story about a pyramid scheme circulating the Parkland area. A quote from that story:
The scheme has operated under many different names, including the “Ladies Gift Club” however the basic premise of the scheme remains the same.
People are convinced to hand over sums of money – usually around $5,000 – which are viewed as investments. The person is then instructed to recruit two more people into the scheme and so it grows.
