Spruce Grove sex offender breaches conditions

Gary Joseph Robins

Gary Joseph Robins, a high risk sex offender living in Spruce Grove, was back in Stony Plain Court on Wednesday.  He plead guilty to breaching the terms of his release, which included not “attending any public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or day care center, school ground, playground or community center.”

Robins was given 90 days in prison, but because of time served awaiting his trial, was ordered to spend only another 24 days behind bars.

The RCMP did not release the specific activities that constituted the breach.

Robins has already served 564 days in prison for sexual interference.  Upon his initial release, RCMP commented that he “has a lengthy criminal history of committing sexual offences against females under the age of 16 years within the Province of Alberta.”  They believed “he posed a considerable threat to the community.”

Robins is 44 years old, has brown hair and blue eyes, is approximately 6 feet tall, and weighs 160 pounds.
