			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-6" style="margin: 5px;" title="Town of Stony Plain" src="http://www.trinews.ca/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/stonyplain.jpg" alt="Town of Stony Plain" width="260" height="260" />According to <a title="Stony Plain Reporter" href="http://www.stonyplainreporter.com">the Reporter</a>, council members for the Town of Stony Plain have just approved a 3.5% property tax hike.  However, it&#8217;s not as bad as it could be: the originally tabled hike was to be as high as 6.88%.  To achieve a lower increase the town&#8217;s administration made some substantial cuts, including delaying the hiring of a new Deputy Fire Chief.</p>
<p>The City of Spruce Grove also just announced a tax hike of it&#8217;s own: 4.9%. </p>
